Hozuai
Japanese Fabric Hair Tie – Indigo Hand-Dyed Button Scrunchie
For centuries Kyoto dyed cloth in a water-indigo called Kyo-asagi — until it vanished in 1923. A family workshop in Kameoka revived it as Kyoho-ai, and dyes every piece by hand, one at a time.
This hair tie is topped with a walnut-style covered button, wrapped in 100% cotton hand-dyed in living, plant-fermented Ryukyu indigo. The shibori dyeing leaves soft white blossoms floating in deep Japan Blue — and because every button is dyed by hand, no two are ever alike. A small, everyday piece of real Kyoto craft: perfect as a gift, or as a first taste of hand-dyed indigo.
