In the bamboo groves west of Kyoto, the workshop of Nagaoka Meichiku tends and crafts kyo-meichiku - the famous ornamental bamboos of Kyoto prized for centuries in tea houses and temples: pale shirotake, sesame-speckled gomadake, and tortoise-shell kikko-chiku. Every piece is cut, cured and finished by hand by Kyoto bamboo craftsmen.
These chopsticks are shaped from a single culm of Kyoto bamboo - light, strong, and naturally antibacterial. Choose pale White bamboo, speckled Goma (sesame) bamboo, or figured Zumen bamboo; each pair can be engraved with a name, making a keepsake gift for weddings, birthdays and new homes. 22.5 cm, hand-finished for a smooth touch.
