Bamboo Lantern handcrafted in Kyoto, Japan - a light object that scatters warm points of light across the room.
In the bamboo groves west of Kyoto, the workshop of Nagaoka Meichiku tends and crafts kyo-meichiku - the famous ornamental bamboos of Kyoto prized for centuries in tea houses and temples: pale shirotake, sesame-speckled gomadake, and tortoise-shell kikko-chiku. Every piece is cut, cured and finished by hand by Kyoto bamboo craftsmen.
A hand-pierced bamboo light object: when lit from within, the culm glows and casts a pattern of light on your walls (fits a small LED / tea light - flame-free LED recommended). Choose Ten (patterned column), Yo (sun pattern), or Kaguya (lacquered green bamboo).
