Hozuai
Japanese Fabric Brooch – Indigo Sashiko Embroidery Hijab Pin, Gift
For centuries Kyoto dyed cloth in a water-indigo called Kyo-asagi — until it vanished in 1923. A family workshop in Kameoka revived it as Kyoho-ai, and dyes every piece by hand, one at a time.
This brooch is worked in sashiko, Japan's traditional running-stitch embroidery. Choose your motif — each a little story of the seasons:
• Dogwood (Gold / Silver) — the four-petalled yamaboushi of early summer
• Small Flower — a wild chrysanthemum, in white-and-gold thread
• Twig (Gold / Silver) — the quiet beauty of a bare branch
Dyed in living, plant-fermented Ryukyu indigo. No two are ever alike.
• 100% cotton • Ryukyu natural indigo, hand-sashiko • Ø 5 cm • Hand-dyed in Kameoka, Kyoto • One of a kind • Ships direct from Japan
